Oh Addie Mae

Oh Addison Mae, my first born. So often I think to myself "Where did she come from?" This girl keeps you on your toes, that is for sure. She makes me laugh and makes me roll my eyes and I make her roll her eyes and we just roll like that. I decided it was time for a little Addie-isms of late.
The other day I walked out my front door and saw this on my front sidewalk. Yes that is right. It says "You will be cursed. From: your enemy "

HUH? What in the world? I think she said she was trying to spook Kimball. I don't think it really worked but it made me laugh. I made her spray it off before any neighbors walked by and took it personally.
Ever since I can remember, Addie has been obsessed with Nature and bugs. She will spend all day searching for bugs and is not afraid to hold anything...well hopefully I have made her a little afraid of spiders (for her own good right?) but this girl is the bug whisperer. She has a magic touch and I can't even count the number of times she is just holding a butterfly on her finger and it just stays there.
In fact, here is a letter she wrote to a senator this last year that I had to save because I thought it was so cute. You have to picture her reading it with her dramatic voice and everything.
"Dear Senator, I am very, very worried about animals! Nature is my thing. If I'm not outside, I'm the bordest girl in the whole world! I read a book about oil spills and I want to stop it. I can't change it but YOU can! So please help it. Sincerely, Addison"
See what I mean? That girl lives life full of passion. Well, this picture is from this last weekend in Nauvoo when she caught a dragonfly. Such a silly goose.

She is really into playing pranks on people. Last year for April Fools Day, I drew mustaches on the kids with eyeliner when they were asleep and it was hilarious to watch their reaction when they first looked in the mirror in the morning. Well Addie had been planning the whole year to get us back. She had a marker and make-up hid in her pillow case and woke up super early on April Fools Day this year and put blush and lipstick on Ammon and tried to draw a mustache with a marker on me but luckily I woke up and luckily it wasn't permanent marker.
Well she is really into trying to trick people now. Like, putting her arm around you and tapping you on the opposite shoulder, or making bunny ears behind your head for a picture.

Here is my aunt Charyl explaining how important Nauvoo and the gospel is and here is Addie making bunny ears because she noticed I was taking a picture.

As you may have noticed, the tooth fairy has been visiting our house a lot lately. Well She lost a tooth a couple weeks ago and ~~I went in~~ the tooth fairy went in to make the "exchange" but SURPRISE!!! All that was there was a card leading me the tooth fairy on a scavenger hunt to find the tooth.

"Dear tooth fairy, here is your first clue in finding my tooth. I love to rock and I am a chair. Look under my cushion."

Here is your second clue. I keep Addie's pajamas in this drawer and Addie keeps her gum here"
(Her pajama drawer...although don't you be steeling her bumble gum if you come for a visit, now that you know where she hides it.)

"Last clue: I might be smelly but I'm new too. I'm pink with green polka dots and frogs. I hide Addies tooth. I hide behind the door to Addies room."

All I can say is, the tooth fairy is glad that Addie is a deep sleeper.

Addie is so full of spunk and has become a little book worm lately. She just finished the first book of Harry Potter and read it in about 3 or 4 days. She is also becoming so good on the piano. She loves to play it and I love to hear her. I just can't believe that she is getting so grown up. She will be getting baptized this summer and that is so hard to believe. This next year I am going to start homeschooling Addie for a number of reasons of which will be some future post but I know that it is going to be a growing experience for both of us and I am really looking forward to it. I love that Addie Mae

Favorite Belly Laughs

Addie was telling me about a song they had been listening to in art class but her friends said it had the "B word" in it. "But mom, I don't even know what the A word or the B word or the C word are".

Avonlea: "Mom, can I pick your nose?"
Mom: "no, why do you always want to pick my nose?"
Avonlea: "Because you are so pickery"
(2 yrs old)

Avonlea was in her room getting changed into pj's when she said "Mom can you please get out of my room? I need some primary (privacy)" (2 yrs old)

Kimball came in to snuggle with me the other morning and I gave him a big fat kiss on his forehead to which he replied "ewwwww! I'm going to tell all my friends!"

While peeling an orange, Addie said "mom, I know what we can do with all our extra oranges. We can juice them and make homemade orange juice and then we can give everything that's left over to the poor."

Some of my favorite sayings of Avonlea's lately
"Holy Macrole!"
"and so...."
"mom, I said a big big kanga-deer" (this is a deer she saw jumping across our front yard)

Avonlea: "mom, I feel sick. I need new batteries"

Kimballs prayers have been getting a little long lately and he pretty much says whatever he is thinking. Here are some of the things from his prayer tonight that were my favorite.
"Please bless that daddy can eat spicy food because Daddy LOVES spicy food, please bless there will be a big t-rex at the zoo because I love T-Rex's, I love love love camping. Please bless that I can go to Nate and Misty's and have fun, please bless that I can have train pictures on my wall. Please bless that I can have car pictures too cause I never had those before,...this went on for a long time"

Addie's prayer "Please bless that we can make good choices and be obedient so that something special can happen one day, like we can become a prophet or something"

Addie: "Mom this Christmas will be a big hit for the memories" (on Christmas eve)

Addie: "Mom, was I born in the 50's?"

Addie: "Mom, do you know what I like best about Chloe?"
Me: "what?"
Addie: "How she brings peace to you" (meaning everyone)

Addie was saying the blessing on the food and ask Heavenly Father to bless the poor. This was their conversation after she said amen.
Kimball "Addie, we are not poor, we have EVERYTHING"
Addie"No Kimball, the poor are people who don't have anything. They don't have food, they don't have clothes, they don't have homes. They just sit out in the wild!"
Kimball "They don't even have UNDERWEAR? They just are naked?"

Addie was being pushed on a swing by her cousin. She was a little nervous about hitting a tree so she decided to pray. She bowed her head and said "Dear Lord, please bless that my guts won't fall out." (Age 5)

This morning I was getting Addie some cereal for breakfast. This was our conversation
Me: "these are Golden Grahams and they are my favorite"
Addie: What are they called"
Me: "Golden Grahams'
Addie: Oh I thought you said Phonograms and I thought 'why are they called that?' but if thats what you say, then OK"
(Age 5)

While driving in the car, Addie was thirsty so I gave her some water. After drinking it, she started tooting.
me: "Addie!"
Addie: "That water makes me toot"
Me: "what do you say?"
Addie "There's more where that came from"
(age 2)

Addie: Mom, I love you so much.
Me: I love you too Addie.
Addie: I love you more. I love you with 5 hearts as big as the earth, and little tiny hearts inside of them.

While sitting and eating breakfast this morning, Addie starting telling Ammon why he was the leader of the home.
Addie: You are the leader of the home, because you are a lot stronger than mommy.
Daddy: I don't know, mommy is pretty strong.
Addie: Well, then it's because you are really good at fighting with swords, and you're really good at karate.
No Addie, it's because of daddy's nun-chuck skill, and because he's pretty good with a bow-staff too. That's why!

Addie woke up from a nap the other day and said "Mom, I think my arm is asleep, because it feels all spicy."

Sacrament meeting was about to start and there was a bench on the 2nd row that was empty. Addie scooted in the bench and then Ammon turned around to see where Kimball was and was surprised to see him in the middle of the isle with his pants pulled down and checking out his Lightning McQueen underwear.

"10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, Happy New Year!" as we raise our cider in the air for a toast, I ask Addie what one of her New Year resolutions is. Her response? "Clean the toilets every Saturday!!" OK?

We have been playing "Go Fish" lately, however it has been a little bit of a vulgar game. 'How' you ask? Well, Kimball switches his 'F's for 'B's and he changes his 'sh' sound for 'ch'....yeah it gets insulting when he doesn't have what you are looking for and he tells you to "Go B*#+*!"

Addie: "Mom, your the best mom in the whole...tire university" hmmm did she me entire universe? if so, Thank you kindly

Avonlea was in her crib "going to bed" but was yelling a lot. Ammon went in to check on her and put her binky back in. She ws just kicking her legs and flapping her arms like she always does when she's excited. Addie said, "She's not going to sleep, she just keeps doing the baby dance of joy"

I was in the living room (still in my pajama's) on a Friday morning. Addie brought me a dress out to wear, telling me she had chosen my clothes for the day. I told her I didn't want to wear a dress. Addie responded "Well you get what you get, and you don't throw a fit" (5 years)

We were driving and a tumble-weed blew across the road. Addie said "Mom, look at that giant hairball blowing in the wind" (5 years)

Addies friend was singing "All you Single ladies" while they were playing. As we were driving home, Addie started singing "I'm singing lettuce..I'm singing lettuce" ....single ladies, singing lettuce, same thing (4 years)

I was sick in bed for 2 days and hadn't got ready or done my hair. At the end of the 2nd day, Addie came and got on my bed and started doing my hair (putting all of her clips in my hair) and said "Mom, a girls got to do what a girls got to do"

Also while I was sick Addie said to me "Mom I'm so sad that your sick because we make the best team when your not sick" (4 years)

One of our good friends made Addie a doll. Addie declared it her new "special doll" and when I asked what her name was, she replied "ummm... Assy." Luckily it wasn't too hard to convince her to change it to something else. (4 yrs old)

Ammon was driving all the kids home and Avonlea started crying. Addie was trying to comfort her by saying "Avonlea, I'm sorry but there are no women in the van to feed you. I'm the only woman here and my breasts just aren't big enough. I'm sorry Avonlea" (4 yrs old)

Addie and Kimball got styrofoam swords for Christmas. This morning they were playing with them and Kimball was crawling/slithering across the floor while Addie was hitting him with the sword. I heard her say "Say your prayers crocodile!" and Kimball just stopped, folded his arms, closed his eyes and bowed his head while Addie continued to beat him. I couldn't help laughing (A-4, K-2)

Addie: Did you get that watch for your Birthday when you turned 30
Me: yep
Addie: Soon you are going to be 31 then 32, 33, 34 then 35 and then you are going to start to slouch (4 yrs old)

Addie was playing at a friends house and afterward, this is what her friends mom told me
Addie: How old are you?
Elaine: I'm 26
Addie: My mom is 30 and she is WAY older than my dad
Elaine: How old is your dad?
Addie: (starts counting on her fingers)......11 (4 yrs old)

Also while playing with this friend Addie and her friend were playing make-believe and Addie told her friend that she had to be the step-mother. After a little while her friend asked if they could PLEASE play something else, to which Addie replied "You CAN'T say please! You are the step-mother and step mothers don't say please. (4 yrs old)

My brother Denny asked Addie if she wanted pancakes or waffles for breakfast. Her reply was "Actually I just want fats and sugar" (3 yrs old)

Ammon lost his voice today and was a little squeaky. I think it was a little hard on his self esteem, especially when Addie asked "Dad are you so sad that you sound like a woman?" (3 yrs old)

Addie and Kimball were playing hide-and-seek. Unfortunately they both thought they were the ones hiding. When Addie got tired of waiting she said
Addie: "Kimball, come here, I have a cake for you. Kimball there is a party and all of your friends are here. Kimball Come! Here! Right! Now! 1,2,3,4,5...
(3 yrs old)

This morning while driving to Parowan, Addie asked me
Addie: "Mom, does everybody have a line and 2 bums? (asking if everyones bum looks like hers)
me: yep
Addie:But mom, I want to have a bum that looks like the mountains. I hope she said that because we were driving by the mountains and not because she was reflecting on what my bum looks like. (3 yrs old)

Addie was frustrated because I was making her clean up a mess she had made. She was in the kitchen cleaning and I was in the living room cleaning.
Addie: "mom are you folding your arms?"
Me: "no, why?"
Addie: "Because I am praying to Heavenly Father"
Me: "Okay, I'll fold my arms"
Addie: "Heavenly Father, please help mommy that she will stop being a little stinker...." (3 yrs old)
I couldn't hear the rest of her prayer because I was laughing to much.

Addie was helping me can some pears this morning when the following came out of her mouth
Addie: "Mom, I'm so exhausted!"
Me: "Why are you so exhausted?
Addie: "cause my poops are saying 'I need to come out right now!' and I have to tell them 'Poops, you gotta be patient, I am making pears for the long cold winter" (2 yrs old)
