I SPY
While driving home from church we were all playing "I Spy." After waiting patiently, it was Avonlea's turn. She said "Oh! got it! I spy something that is...ORANGE." We were all guessing everything that we could see that was orange, which was few and far between. It soon turned into 20 questions...then into 101 questions. Finally Daddy asked, "Avonlea, is it in this van?" No. "Is it outside?" (long pause) "Yes." (Finally our first yes, but our new game of 101 questions was almost up). "Is it the sun?" No. "Is it on the ground?" NO. By now, Kimball and Addie have completely given up and are sitting quietly with a bored look on their face. At this point we decided we could not figure out what she spied. Then Avonlea said with a loud voice "it's a parking lot!"
Yesterday was a beautiful day outside and the kids were outside playing together. I was nursing Jarom and asked Ammon to just keep an eye on them out the window. After a while, he doesn't see them so he goes out looking. Addie and Kimball are riding their bikes around but Avonlea is no where to be found. We check the house, no Avonlea. We start going around the buildings and check the park, no Avonlea. I finally think to tell Ammon to check the Calls house. Yep, sure enough she had gone over there and told them that she needed to borrow something. They, thinking we had sent her over on an errand were just waiting for her to remember what it was or were waiting for a text or call from us asking for what it was she was supposed to be borrowing. She is looking through their toys, trying to choose what it is she is going to borrow then, she sits down with them and eats dinner. This whole time, we have no idea where she is. Finally, she says "My mom is making dinner too". The Calls finally realize they have been dooped and Nate goes outside and sees Ammon looking for her and signals to him that she is inside their house. The little stinker pot. Well I'm glad we have friends that feed our children and keep them safe for us, and that our kids feel comfortable enough with them that they will just go hang out at their house. Thank you Calls
